Refuting Jehovah’s Witnesses

Jesus is not God, but “the only begotten Son of God.”

  • Term “Son of God” used metaphorically for others too, e.g. Psalm 2:7 and David as begotten.
  • Text itself is in David’s mouth, not future tense (“You are my son, today I have begotten you”).
  • Contradiction in applying “only begotten” when others are called begotten.
  • Qur’an closes the debate: He begets not, nor is He begotten.

Rejects Trinity — believes in one God (Jehovah), with Jesus subordinate.

David seen primarily as king, not prophet.

  • Some denominations affirm David as prophet-king, but role debated.

  • Qur’an confirms: Remember Our servant David, the one with strength; he was repeatedly turning to Allah.
