Polysemy

Polysemous words are words that have multiple distinct meanings[1][2]. Examples of polysemous words include environment, measure, and adjacent[3], as well as mouth (of a river vs of an animal)[4]. Polysemy differs from homonymy, which is when words with multiple meanings are written and/or pronounced the same[1].
