Zakariya
The Dua of Prophet Zakariya (AS), as narrated in the Quran, is a powerful prayer for offspring. While not directly for a wife, it is a prayer for a righteous and blessed child, which can be interpreted as a prayer for a good family unit. The relevant verses from Surah Al-Imran (3:38) and Surah Maryam (19:4-6) highlight his plea for a good heir who will carry on his legacy.
The Dua:
“Rabbi hab lee mill ladunka zurriyyatan tayyibatan, innaka samee’ud du’aa.”
(3:38)
- Translation: “My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication.”
“Rabbi innee wahn al-‘azmu minnee wash ta’ala ar-ra’su shayban walam akum bidu’a’ika rabbi shaqiyyan. Wa innee khiftul mawaliya min wra’ee wakana imra’atee ‘aqiran fahab lee min ladunka waliyyan. Yarithunee wayarithu min aali Ya’qooba waj’alhu rabbi radiyya.”
(19:4-6)
- Translation: “My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head is filled with white hair, and I have never been unblest in my invocation to You, O my Lord. And indeed, I fear [the disposition of] my relatives after me, since my wife is barren. So give me from Yourself an heir. Who will inherit from me and inherit from the family of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, one with whom You are pleased.”
