Shahadah

Profession of Faith (shahada).

Kalimat at-Tawhid, also known as the Fourth Six Kalima or Kalima Tawheed, is a fundamental declaration of faith in Islamic theology that emphasizes the oneness and unity of Allah. Here is the Kalimat at-Tawhid in Arabic, its transliteration, and translation:

Transliteration

Dhul-jalaali wal-ikraam. Biyadihil-khair. Wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shai-in qadeer

Translation

There is none worthy of worship except Allah. He is the only One. He has no partners. For Him is the kingdom. And for Him is the praise. He gives life and causes death. And He is Alive. He will not die, never, ever. Possessor of Majesty and Reverence. In His hand is the goodness. And He has power over everything.

Significance

The Kalimat at-Tawhid is a powerful affirmation of the core Islamic belief in the oneness of Allah (Tawheed). It emphasizes several key aspects of Islamic theology:

  1. Monotheism: It affirms that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah.
  2. Allah’s Sovereignty: It declares that all dominion and praise belong to Allah alone.
  3. Allah’s Power: It acknowledges Allah’s power over life and death.
  4. Allah’s Eternity: It states that Allah is ever-living and will never die.
  5. Allah’s Attributes: It mentions Allah’s majesty, honor, and omnipotence.

Reciting this Kalima is considered a form of worship and a renewal of one’s faith. It serves as a reminder of the fundamental beliefs in Islam and helps Muslims maintain their focus on the oneness of Allah in their daily lives.
